This video is very
inspirational and helps motivate us. For those of you that don't quite
understand the message of the video, it is about following what you believe and
don't let a simple exam tie down your dreams. I really like this video because
it talks about breaking free from the "system" and do what you feel
passionate about. By following our dreams, we can work hard and continue to
thrive in society. We go to college to learn and get a degree but all that is
pointless if we end up getting a job we hate. The whole point is to stand out
as an individual and not let society shape you into what they want you to be.
Let your passion rise and become the person you want to become regardless of
what people think. After all, a degree is worthless if you have no passion to
pursue and further your career.
Great discussion and I agree with the importance of earning a degree in a field you enjoy, but I'm a bit weary with the message in the video. There is a lot more to schooling than just math, English, science, and exams. There is philosophy, arts, and social science classes than educate people about the past, present, and future. Many students form new ideas and perspectives on the world based on these classes alone.
ReplyDeleteI made a similar post about the shortcomings of our current education system on my own blog that is in line with his philosophy. However, I fear he's almost cheapening the prospect of higher learning when he could have made message without doing so. I'm also afraid too many people will receive the wrong message and use this as an excuse to not go to school. What he failed to mention was all the names he listed became successful because they are incredibly hard workers, probably harder workers than most graduates, and not purely because they didn't value schooling. The onus is on you to be successful.
"A stupid man's report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconsciously translates what he hears into something he can understand."
-Bertrand Russell
I agree there is more to school then math english and exams. I know that school isn't for everyone when we get older. I knew plenty of people who are doing fine without a college degree and I know plenty who are doing horrible without one too. I don't have a college degree and I get paid 25 an hour I choose to do this I choose to be in class and pay because I want to. I think if you want something bad enough and strive and work hard you will achieve it. No one can make us do anything we don't want to do.
